I love the novella format, so I am leery of referring to this as one. Honestly, this just feels like a set of underdeveloped chapters of a larger novel.

I bought this because it cost $5 on Nook. $5 for 7 books seemed like a decent deal. I'm still trying to decide whether or not I wasted my money. I read them all, so I guess that counts for something.

They were very simplistic, basically. I mean, it felt like reading the script to some tv show. Maybe it is, I don't know -- I mean, throughout the books it's referred to as "Season 1," so either that's a new trend in naming book series or it is in fact based off some cheesy witch/teen/romance tv program. I don't know. It wasn't great, but it wasn't awful. There's really nothing to praise or rant about it. It's just . . . meh. ( )

The Witches Of Santa Anna by Lauren Barnholdt & Aaron Gorvine is the first season / first seven books in the series (Claimed, Tricked, Rumored, Hushed, Pursued, Enticed and Ruined).
This series is about Natalia Moore. Natalia Moore is the new girl at Santa Anna Prep. All she wanted was to fly under the radar. All that goes out of the window when Campbell Elliot goes out of his way to be nice to the new girl. Natalia likes Campbell but Raine Marsden the most popular girl at Santa Anna Prep has her eye on him. And she doesn't like competition.
Raine and her friends are no ordinary girls, they possess powers that people can only dream of, and no one will stand in the way of what they want.

The only downside to The Witches Of Santa Anna was that it was too short! I finished the first season and wanted to carry on reading about Natalia and what would happen after. It was well written and I flew through it!

These books were chosen because of the pricing (hello, Amazon, how I love thee and your 99 cent books). 7 books for 99 cents was a steal, until I realized that each book was about 7 short chapters, which in turn led to the entire 7 books totaling about 1 regular, 150-200 page book.

The books are told from 2 points of view, Natalia's and Campbell's aka Cam. Natalia meets Cam on her first day of school at Santa Anna Prep. Although Cam starts off as an arrogant jerk, he starts to change when he realizes not everything is what it seems. Especially when it comes down to Triad: Raine, Becca, and Teri. Raine, Becca and Teri are the "Mean Girls" of the school. They have it all, but they are also..dun dun dun....witches. But nobody knows about it. A character named Brody falls in there somewhere, but I can't tell if he's a good guy or bad guy yet, even after reading that many books in the series. He's sometimes as arrogant as Cam, but in times, he's really sweet guy, which gives me an iffy feeling about him. Full of suspense, weirdness, and witch-crafty-ness, it leaves the reader wanting more of Natalia, Cam, Raine and Brody.

I give this bundle of books a rating of 4 out of 5. I do have to say though, if these books weren't bundled and I read them as singles, they would've gotten a much lower score. Each book ends when the build-up occurs. I don't mind cliffhangers, but with such short books, it should not occur. Book 7 did leave off on a cliffhanger, but it closes up everything nicely and starts the arc for the next book. I suggest that if you were to purchase any of these books, please purchase them in the bundle because you will be upset at the price you paid for a short story that ends on a cliffhanger. I'm waiting for the next bundle of books to come out to finish out the Witches of Santa Anna. ( )
