This is mainly a collection of statistics and records. There are a few short but interesting chapters on women's involvement in the Northern Territory Football League (NTFL), commercial and media support, personalities, characters and families and the origins of football competition in Darwin. Two chapters record the NTFL players who have succeeded in other major leagues, or major league players who have played in the NTFL. A useful reference book with statistics and records of the various clubs of the NTFL and several black and white photographs. A fairly run of the mill potted history of the Northern Territory Football League (NTFL) with short sections on the clubs and some of the best players over the years, including former St Kilda player Claude Stanlake, who was in Darwin when he found out his wife had a child with another man (note: this isn't mentioned in the book).

It's not particularly well written but I can live with that. What did annoy me no end though was the authors' weird compunction to include apostrophes in places they were not required. Possessive personal pronouns, in particular "its", do not require apostrophes but apparently the authors are of a different belief as apostrophes are whacked in possessive "its" with gay abandon. At first, the examples of non-required apostrophes started to grate on me but eventually I got used to it to the point that I was quite taken aback when the authors correctly left the apostrophe out in one instance.
