Hybrid Misfit by Eve Langlais
Combination demon and angel, vampire and succubus, Megan continues to avoid the vampires that are searching for her. Even though they were made by the same government experiment, they want more from Megan than she is willing to give. Like her freedom.

Simon and Gene to the rescue. Megan has the kick butt attitude and experience that she doesn’t really need the rescue but who can resist this duo that just wants to protect her.

Kind of erotica but the sex doesn’t happen until three quarters of the way through. A romance with erotic elements is probably a better description. A threesome for sure that is explicit.

An enjoyable romp for the Misfit.
First in this series. I’m looking forward to finding out more about her misfit friends.

“Gene turned to me with a wide smile. “Ignore him. Simon, for all his age, doesn’t date much and has little experience wooing a woman.”
“In my day, we didn’t woo, we took.” The big man crossed his arms over his chest.
“Welcome to the modern age where women get to choose”, was my tart reply. It hid the warmth that his direct words ignited. “Now, while this has been most interesting, I do have to leave. However, I’d like to meet with you guys again.”
After matching sensual smile’s, my tummy did a flip. “Get your mind out of the gutter. I want to meet for information.”

“I prefer a bed,” Simon injected.

As come on lines went his was laughably crude, but it worked. My hand almost reached for him. Bad hand.”

Hybrid Misfit is the third book I have read from Eve Langlais, and she has a definite way of making you fall in love not just with the heroine, but with both the guys who are usually chasing after her! This is a ménage story, and though it’s short (about 36,000 words) it’s packed with history, violence and of course… Heat!

Our feisty butt kicking heroine is Beth. She was a dying human girl (cancer) when her parents, in a last ditch effort to save their daughter, signed her up for experiments designed to heal her, but that hadn’t been FDA sanctioned yet. Turns out these experiments were created by crazy guys who wanted to mix Angel and vampire DNA. Without going into too much detail (you learn about it in the book) there were three test groups, those given Angel DNA (this turned the subjects into succubus or incubus), those given vampire DNA (turned obviously into vampires, but they are stronger and can usually expect unique powers to pop up) and the unlucky third group who were given both. All the test subjects in the third group, except for Beth, went crazy and died, or rejected the DNA and died. This makes Beth a hot commodity and paints a big fat bull’s eye on her back.

Jump forward, and Beth is an exotic dancer who has learned to kill, sometimes though the odds are not in her favor (like 10 to 1) and lucky for her there’s a huge (huge!!) strong “other” who helps her out. From there she meets his best friend who is a genie and things go from weird to weirder as Beth finds out she could be the fulcrum of an ancient prophesy destined to either destroy or save Heaven or Hell.

Whew… This is something I adore about all of Langlais’s books. She really fleshes out the lead heroine, and often times adds really unique and interesting plot threads. If you were to read this book by itself I would say you will love it and give it 4-5 stars…if you’re into the whole m/f/m scene that is. For me I noticed that her lead guys tend to blend in with each other. In the other ménages I’ve read from her there is a huge strong muscular guy who is best friends with a smaller, more seductive type man. The heroine always gets the extreme masculine guy (who is usually soft hearted) and the seductive, suave guy who is smaller but more sexual. She spends so much time differentiating her heroines (I mean they do all kick butt but they are each different) that I wonder why some of her guys ‘feel’ the same. Eh? It was still a fantastic short and she sure does know how to write some sandwich scenes… Yeah that was an innuendo…

And the main reason this got only 3.5 stars from me was that I was so excited to get a new Langlais book, and didn't notice that it was a menage :(

I would definitely recommend this to all my friends who love reading smut (you know who you are!), but prefer stories where there are other things happening as well. ( )
