Loved the flashback sections and also the fact that it started as a why-did-it before developing into the more normal whodunnit. Plenty of character background and a plot that moves along at a nice pace allowing the reader to guess and second guess themselves silly. I’m looking forward to reading the next instalment of the life Allan Stanton Halifax Detective Allan Stanton is assigned a new case. A security officer has been found dead, but there also seems to be a second crime scene in the same vicinity. But this is only the start, and what is happening to the body parts and why. Although we know the name of the killer this does not distract from an enjoyable well-written mystery. I have mixed feelings about this book, at first I thought a really detailed police procedural that was not interesting, though I was going to finish it because I had committed to reading a book set in Nova Scotia. Then at the ending I was surprised at my reaction Deze bespreking was geschreven voorLibraryThing lid Weggevers. It was okay but started a bit slow for me. The end was a bit unexpected, anti-climactic but still good in a way. The book made me realize that criminals are victims also and I guess I liked the book for giving all the characters their own chapters thus seeing their own perspective. I loved Hoss, the misunderstood, lonely killer and I guess he got the ending he wanted. I just wished the book was faster in a way. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Onderdeel van de reeks(en)Allan Stanton (1)
Halifax cop Allan Stanton is a troubled homicide detective who has lost everything, including his family and his sense of justice. When he finally decides to leave the force and start over, he's assigned a string of murders that all bear the signs of a serial killer collecting trophies. As Stanton unravels each grisly crime scene, the mounting evidence points uncomfortably close to him and a case more disturbing than anything he's ever seen.
