The illustrations in this book may not be works of art but they certainly get the point across (no pun intended), and the vast catalog of weapon types seems quite exhaustive. Each weapon or group of similar weapons has a bit of commentary as to use, origins, and/or history.
If exotic weapons are what you're interested in you could do worse than getting your hands on this book.
