This had some outre elements, satanism, death by rabies, but in the end was a very straightforward procedural full of town planners , selectmen and real estate ( ) Archer Mayor is a contemporary master of the procedural. There is something about characterization in these novels (I've read several of them now) that doesn't ring true for me. On the other hand, having lived in Brattleboro and environs quite a bit in my life, I am deeply impressed by Mr. Mayor's ability to invoke a sense of place. This book probably deserves more like four stars, yet I can't quite bring myself to rate it so--as if, really that matters. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Onderdeel van de reeks(en)Joe Gunther (7)
A small girl brings Joe Gunther a bird's nest-made partially of human hair. In the search to match a body-and an identity-to the hair's owner, Joe comes across an unexplained death, a grisly murder, and a sudden disappearance. All seem to be entangled in a puzzling web of municipal corruption, blackmail, and industrial espionage. A shell-shocked World War II veteran nicknamed the Ragman may hold the key to it all-but only if Joe can get him to talk before the murderer strikes again. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
