This was such a beautiful and courageous book of a mom and her child. I enjoyed reading the bond and sacrifices the mom is constantly doing still taking care of her baby. I love reading and seeing the different aspects of the culture and relationships. This sweet story focuses on the bond between this lady and her baby. The baby is always in her "kanga" no matter what the mom is doing. Everything the mom does is for her child. Although this isn't in song form or doesn't seem to be melodic, I think anyone could appreciate the meaning behind the story and the concomitant paintings. “Lala Salama” meaning good night or sleep well is a story of a mother her baby’s day to day activities. She speaks of how she works and gathers water with baby being carried on her back, feeling his heartbeat as the day progresses. The mother in this story is portrayed as a strong woman, taking care of work and her family. The mother and baby watch as the father sets out at night into the lake, this is when baby falls asleep listening to his mother’s songs. A good Tanzanian Lullaby to read to kids before bed. It shows us the different interesting lifestyle a mother, father, and a boy live. The mother and the baby are always together even though the mother is a working one just like her husband. Lala Salama is another good book to read to children for shedding light on another culture across the continent. Age-level is from K-3. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
