Henrietta has led an unusual life. She has been a world traveller, living in Moscow, Cairo, Beijing, Ottawa and Johannesburg. She has visited Rome, Paris, Lisbon and Tokyo. Her passport has the stamps to prove it. And she is a cat.

It all started in New York at Newsweek Magazine. One of a litter of kittens in need of a home; a free bottle of scotch came with each kitten. She wound up in a family of two adults and two children. By the time she was full grown, the husband was working for the New York Times. His first assignment was Moscow and there the adventurous life began.

The book is a fun and light read. It is interesting to read about the intricacies of taking the family pet on international travel and how they are viewed in other countries. Henrietta was noticed where ever she went. There are humorous moments and moments of concern…like the time she went missing! Through it all Henrietta manages to keep her poise.

Even if you’re not a cat person, you may enjoy the read. ( )

If it hadn't been written in such a cutesy style it could have been a very good book, having all the makings. Wren was a foreign correspondent for the New York Times and was assigned to interesting places all over the world, and his amazing resilient brave cat went to all these places with the family. But it was just a little too light for my taste. ( )

A fun light read, perhaps a bit too light but sorely needed after much heavy reading. It wasn't quite as charming as The Cat Who Came in from the Cold but way better than Dewey. I finished it up in one night and now back to The Nation (man, it piles up!
