So far only read:
~ Great, Golden Wings By Rachel Swirsky ipodcast 3*
"Why should the king come to see your screens and lights? When he wants an illusion, the Lord Magician conjures him one, just like that."
"It's not the same,"interrupted Lady Percivalia. ... Lady Harrah eyed her suspiciously. "What do you mean it's not the same?"
Lady Percivalia kept her voice soft. "Illusions are manufactured. The screens show real dragons."
Lady Harrah laughed. She gestured dismissively at the cinematographist's equipment. "How can you compare this to magic? I agree with the Lord Magician. This may be an amusing diversion, but it will never replace sorcery.
ha. it reminds me of a section in Gone Girl. In Gone Girl it was why bother going to the real places when we can have a better experience through photos and online? "The image is crisper, the view is keener, the camera angle and the soundtrack manipulate my emotions in a way reality can't anymore." In this story it's even worse, why view the images when we can just conjure up what we want to see? ---------------
~ Eighth Eye by Erin Cashier - DNF (Idk who narrated this. Female) I can't pay attention. I fully admit I am multi-tasking but I can't follow along. I know the MC is on morphine from probably 3rd degree burns. She is even missing an eyelid and she is talking to a spider because it ate the fly she was talking to. Now the spider is talking back to her explaining why it only has 7 eyes. LOL I think I will try to "read" the story vs. "listen" because I do like this author quite a bit.
