The first two volumes contained many science essays, but by this volume, it is almost exclusively Science Fiction short stories (with a couple of essays by Pournelle)
The theme of course is exploitation of, and life out in the asteroid belt, which I find fascinating.
If you have any interest in the asteroid belt, then jump right in, this will feed your interest.
Although I'm not a person with a strong understanding of science, I did miss the science essays from the first two volumes. I have yet to read volume 3, 'Cities in Space'. ( )
