I really like this one too. The characters are realistic, the action is paced fairly well. The story is intriguing, and it ended with just a hint of what the third book will be about. I liked how everything tied together, but it seemed a little too easy. The only thing which had me wanting more was the danger. There was danger, but never to the point where a character you cared about was not going to make it. There was the potential for danger, but nothing that was edge of your seat, you didn't know what would happen type.

The main characters, Steve and Sarah, are almost too powerful. I understand why they are, and it fits the story, but there's no suspense with them. You know they can handle anything that is thrown at them, and then some. I really liked Annie and Tristan together. They are not all powerful, but still have some spunk to them. I liked how everything wove together, and the way they found out about the different puzzle pieces of what was going on.

To me, something in the next book needs to go really bad. One of these four characters has to get seriously hurt, to the point where you think they might be lost. Steve would go nuclear if it was Sarah. Sarah likewise would throw a fit if either Annie or Steve were taken out. I think the most advantageous would for either Annie or Tristan to be taken down, not dead, but injured enough that the people who care for them thought death was a real possibility. And having this thought, they become desperate, and do something they wouldn't ordinarily do. And this thing would be the crux of whatever they were trying to achieve. I think that Annie would have the most powerful impact, since Tristan, Steve and Sarah would all be heavily affected by it.

They can still have a happily ever after, but it's that fear for the life of a character that you love which makes a story feel real and exciting. ( )
