It was an ok story. The illustrations were really nice. I was just expecting more. It felt kind of slow at times and I kept wanting something interesting to happen but was just disappointed. Granted, Louise traveling back in time and being at the palace of Marie Antoinette was interesting but from there nothing else really interesting happened. I was waiting for a great ending but it just felt kind of anticlimactic. Not a story I would re-read and I'll probably end up giving it away. ( )

I enjoyed this one way more than the first! I'm so glad I read it, but now I need the third one!
Because the character is already established we get into the time travel bit sooner. I didn't know very much about Marie Antoinette and this book was interesting and informative; it made me crave more historical fiction or a good classic.
The story is simple and I don't think we needed Glenda and Marla to retell us that our main character was learning a lesson, however, Turetsky did expand on the Fashionista world. ( )

Ugh, another book where a12 year old acts like she's 17. A person might like this if they are into vintage fashion designers- every outfit is described in detail, beginning with the name of the designer or brand and often are accompanied by colorful full-page illustrations. I enjoyed the history but that didn't start until almost half way through the book, and the first half is a lot of self centered whining by a spoiled only child (which does play into the similarities I think the author was trying to draw between the main character and Marie Antoinette-but that didn't make it any less annoying).
I started skimming to the end with less than a1/4 left to go. I don't think I missed much.
It also seems like most of what others enjoyed, by their reviews, were the book design and illustrations. I have to agree the book is gorgeous but the writing and plot do not warrant more than two stars. Overall, it seemed formulaic. ( )
