This is a lower-level book with lots of pictures that describes what volcanoes are, what causes volcanoes, types of volcanic eruptions, volcanic ash and debris, pyroclastic flows, avalanches, and mudflows, and preventing death and destructions. The book opens by depicting and describing a real-life volcanic eruption that happened on the northern flank of Mount Saint Helens in Washington State. It then describes what a volcano is. A volcano is a vent in the Earth's crust that lets magma- molten rock contained at high pressure with the Earth- reach the surface. I would use this picture book in my classroom as an opener to a unit or day about volcanoes. Almost all of the pictures are real pictures from volcanic eruptions and would help students see the significance of volcanic eruptions. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
