My favorite character in the story was tenderhearted Ricky, who is constantly struggling with the dilemma of having to hide who he really is, when his nature is to be himself and not worry what others think about him. He hides who he is in order to protect Mark, despite the fact that he knows this isn't the best thing for either of them. Ricky is also the one who reaches out to Mark's daughter and helps her cope with her own troubling family situation.
There are some very graphic sex scenes in the book, which I never really enjoy... I always feel like I am peeking in people's window or sitting quietly on a chair in the corner while strangers have sex. It is awkward. I admit, I skipped over most of these scenes. I was more interested in the general story.
Also, the ending seemed a little sudden. I kept trying to turn the page, and then realized the story was over! I guess this is a good thing, because it meant I was really invested in the characters and the story and wanted to hear more.
Overall, I thought this was a great book and I think you should read it. ( )
