My priest just asked me if I would be a Lay Eucharistic Minister (LEM) during one of our services and while I look forward to it, I'm also filled with trepidation. I start training this Sunday. I found [The Cup of Salvation] on Amazon and bought the Kindle version to prepare myself. I was happy to find this book was a good mixture of practical advice and spiritual insight for LEMs. I feel much better prepared to begin learning if for no other reason I know what to ask for example, Where are the spare purificators? I especially appreciate the checklists! All in all, I found this book to be a thought-provoking and helpful aid to becoming a LEM. I'm sure I'll refer back to it after I get some training. In the Episcopal Church, the term Eucharistic Minister is used to denote someone who assists the priest with administering the Eucharist, often handling the wine. Ely offers historical perspective on this ministry, a theological overview, practical tips, plus an invitation to engage in the spiritual dimensions of serving one's local congregation as a Eucharistic Minister. She concludes the book with a chapter on how to establish this ministry in a local parish. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
