This is the kind of story where I can see why other people would love this. I on the other hand got bored, frustrated, annoyed and giggly. Not a story for me. The writing felt... off. I don't know how to described it. But I did not enjoy it. I got really annoyed with the characters. The side characters were super vague and random. The main characters at least felt authentic. Not that I liked them though. Teenagers are a pain. Even when I was a teenager I recognized (sometimes) how annoying I was. But at least I got to know them. And I don't think you should always like the main character to enjoy the story. The religion part was, at least to me, the whole point of the story and I did not like it. It's an open end and I didn't mind that. It felt fitting. I will not read the second book in the series. I really didn't like the writing enough for that. I'm really unsure how to rate this one. While on the one hand I really did enjoy it, on the other I didn't. While I'll admit it's clever, it irritated me quite a bit as well. The references to the TV show were getting way too much in the end. The posts on the threads a bit over the top and well. And let's not even go near the constant angsting of Brandon...Sorry but that was starting to truly grate. But on the other hand, the characters were entertaining and witty. And they stayed with me for a bit, so that's a good sign as well. But at the end of it, I was glad the book was done. So no great flop, but definitely not a success for me either. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

I have rarely read a more beautifully-written story, in any genre. The friends are fans of a SF TV show, (like 90% of my friends), and attend a series of fan cons devoted to it, and read fanfic shipping the characters, and if I've lost you with that, don't worry. It's explained, and it's funny. The plot is nicely complex, and I loved the main characters even when they were being idiots.
Really, I would like to add a bonus star for that ending. Just beautiful. ( )
