As zombies overrun London, B battles moral dilemmas and a growing sense of hopelessness at every turn.

This time B is in the city. She is looking for survivors. She looks around the city but she realizes that she needs shade to move faster. So B found a store and put clothes on. Then she was starting to move along again a car came along and hit her. The survivors were asking to she if she was a zombie or not. She said she was but they started shooting but it stopped after she escaped. B then found a man that was not zombie then she went in to see where he lived, and the guy had paintings every where. They then had to escape because zombies came in but the guy got caught. So B then started walking again to find civilization and she did, again. They then asked to see if they where bit but B said yes, so they started shooting at her, but she then escaped.
I liked this book because it had a lot of action in it. It wasn't my favorite book in the series but it was good. My favorite part was when she had to try to escape from the people in the car. Also I liked how B meet the guy and the guy had paintings all over his walls. I didn't think he would get caught though. B then found people to hopefully survive with. I liked it when she was talking to the Army men also. At the end of the talking they started to shoot at B, I didn't think that would happen. ( )

Very quick read, but worth it for a zombie book. Now on to the next one - can't wait. Great writing! ( )

B is a teenage hooligan who doesn’t quite believe the news reports showing zombies literally devouring a small town in Ireland. You can’t believe everything you see these days, what with the technology available to doctor film. And as B’s father says, if it is a real outbreak, what’s wrong with losing a little Irish? And could we sic them on the blacks and the Jews while we’re at it?
B’s dad is a true-blue abusive racist. Who can be sure what B believes when it’s easier-- and a lot less painful-- to go along with those beliefs? And who really cares when zombies are loosed on London? Come to find out, B cares.
What did I think about this book? I’m still not quite sure, to be honest. It’s a slender novel, the first of 12 in the series. And for all the gore, it was kind of a slow start for me. A sort of been-there, done-that feel to the zombie tale. But when B’s dad is introduced, and we’re privy to B’s confused thoughts and actions, it’s pretty fascinating. We get to see the classic vicious circle (B gets bullied, B does some bullying to others, B gets praised by dad) at work, and get to hear the alternating I’ve-made-my-dad-proud and I-can’t-possibly-be-this-big-of-a-jerk-can-I debate going on in B’s head. So the middle of the book was, for me, the strongest part. The end wasn’t bad; there are a couple of really interesting twists that make me curious to read the next one. I’m not giving anything away by stating again that zombies are rampaging in London, and B has choices to make!
I give this book 3 out of 5 stars, I’d say. I just read some of the reviews, and the critics out there seem to like it more than me. I find that interesting, too. Anyway, I would recommend this to mature 7th and 8th graders who can handle some graphic brainy-gory violence and quite a bit of British slang. Definitely YA-labeled! ( )
