Kara Knight has an evil twin she didn't know about, who kidnapped her and is determined that they will die together just as they were born together. Her mother has been hiding the secret for years. Will the mother be in time to save her daughter and son?

Obsession can cause people to act strangely. ( )

A psychological thriller which you will find hard to put down and will want to read from cover to cover.

When Kara is abducted her life is turned upside down when she realises who her kidnapper is and what secrets he holds about them both. Not only is Kara's life affected but also her mothers. In the search for Kara her mother has to turn to the police for help before even consulting her husband, which endangers their marriage.

The atmosphere that the author creates is first class as Kara discovers more about her past you feel her emotion. The tension and fears that the next of kin feel is exceptional in the search to find where Kara is and who has taken her. This story will keep you on the edge of your seat and makes you believe you are there watching and noting everything that is going on, bringing the book to life. This story will make you ask questions about any gaps or things you cannot remember in your own past.

An extraordinary theme to a book where the kidnapped victim finds out things about herself which in her deep conscious she already knew. Whilst on the other side her mother has to reveal the truth which she thought she would never have to, not knowing how much will this damage them now and in the future.

Expertly written and a real page turner which keeps the reader enrapt and I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good psychological thriller. ( )

Traces of Kara by Melissa Foster was a fantastic book to read. It starts of with Kara Knight a young woman who is starting afresh after her marriage ended. She works in a power plant but had dreams of going to nursing school and had just been accepted when a man she didn’t know kidnaps her and starts saying things that she doesn’t understand and calling her Marissa.

Kara just thinks he is a madman to start with and like most people would do in that situation she tries to get free to no avail.

This book had me gripped from page one and it was hard to put down. It began by introducing the main characters who were Kara and Roland. Twins who were separated at a young age. Roland has some mental issues though and had been stalking Kara for a long while, he wanted to be with his twin sister but not like normal people would like to, no, he wanted them to both die on their birthday together. I liked Kara she was a strong woman, I also felt for Roland not so much as the man he became but as he was when he was a young boy. The main story was about all of the lies that Kara had been told about her life, she didn’t know she had a twin brother, which must be so hard to be told so many years later and only because of a serious situation like Kara is in.

The book is a brilliant psychological thriller with violence and murder.

The epilogue was left on a huge cliff hanger and I do hope there is another book and not like some films that end oddly. ( )

Traces of Kara by Melissa Foster is a true page turner. It will pull you in and won't let go until the end. This is a thoroughly engrossing suspense novel, probably one of the best I've read in awhile. It is one that I couldn't put down after the first few chapters.

You will feel like you are in the middle of this story. You will want to get up and yell "Watch out!" It will keep you guessing on what is true and what isn't true. Melissa Foster does a wonderful job of painting a picture and grabbing your attention.

I felt myself being drawn to Kara. She has such big dreams, and has gone through a horrible relationship. She has an overprotective mother. Kara feels like she is being smothered. Little does she know what lays ahead of her. She will need a strength that she doesn't know she has.

Her mother thinks very little of herself. She doesn't believe that she is strong. However, we find that she has a strength that we all wish we had. Thankfully, most of us have never been put to the test, and hopefully never will be.

This is a wonderful story of what a mother will do to protect her child. A mother's love can seem stifling at time's but we wouldn't want to live without it. Sometimes we just need to find a nice balance which isn't always easy to do. I think all moms are afraid that we might drive our children away at times because we get a little overprotective.

If you love suspense novels, you will love this book, and it's intriguing plot and characters that feel they have something to prove. ( )

This is the fourth novel by internationally best selling author Melissa Foster. Her novels defy shelving into a certain genre. She writes beautiful stories sometimes with a little magic, sometimes with some heartbreak, and as with Traces of Kara a frightening tale of obsession and madness. They always have strong characters and voices.
Roland Greer is a mentally and physically scarred man we learn is searching for his sister Marissa. They were separated as young children for an as yet unnamed reason but the reader gets the impression it was a frightening perhaps dangerous event.
Kara Knight is a young beautiful woman who has survived a disastrous marriage, divorce, and a mother who still believes the marriage could be saved if Kara would just listen to Daryl her ex. She has just received an acceptance to the University of North Carolina's nursing school program. It is a dream come true. Her life is finally taking the direction she wants, she can leave her job at the local power plant, and move from Maryland to North Carolina. Everything seems perfect.
This novel is a roller coaster of emotion. Suspense, fear, anger and death. The characters you thought you knew, change before your eyes. It's impossible to tell more details without spoilers. I could not put this book down, other than when the fright and emotions became so strong I had to get up and walk away for some breathing time!
I highly recommend this exciting novel to lovers of suspense and danger. I do suggest you not be alone while your reading this!!! ( )
