I heard about this book when I watched the documentary Forks over Knives. It was a real eye opener on how a plant based diet really affects the body. I also watched Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead which is also a very good documentary. Since watching FOK I have become a vegetarian. I have noticed a difference in my energy, skin, hair, and my kidneys are functioning better. Also my cholesterol, which was already low, went even lower. Plant based diet is very hard if you aren't ready to give up the processed foods but think of the health benefits. Last year my Dad had a triple by-pass, open heart surgery and he is only alive because he has a pace maker. His heart never woke up after the surgery. He is a very healthy person and does eat meat but not very often. So with that family history and being a cancer survivor, I will try Eat to Live to make sure the second half of my life is very healthy and I don't go through what my Dad went through. If that means I "miss" out on certain foods like red meat and cheese, then so be it. My life is more important. ( )
