( ) Rarely if ever do I give up on a book, I've read approximately 1,400 and only given up on 20, that nearly became 21 with Sons of Fortune. Now, I've enjoyed several books by Archer including those typically outside of my usual reading area such as As The Crow Flies, that I loved. This though, oh boy, the first half was really trying, don't get me wrong, it's well written and there's plenty of character development, but it was just really not drawing me in, I was feeling little desire to keep going. That is, until about half way when things started to pick up with Nat returning to Hatford to take up the offer from his best friends dad to help run the local bank. It's here the story begins moving for both Nat & Fletcher, it's here that the book redeems itself after all the, well frankly, dull development in the first 250 pages and it's from here that the book actually becomes dare I say exciting. Overall, it's a well written book, and judging by the rating others appreciate it, yet I just wasn't able to really get into the first half of the book but if you can persevere you are rewarded with the unfolding story. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
