Threads of Love by Andrea Boeshaar is a sweet historical romance that will appeal to fans of this genre. At times humorous and at times thoughtful, this novel is a look at life in Wisconsin and Montana in the early 1900s. Book 3 in the Threads of Time series following three generations of Sundberg women, it can be read as a standalone.

Emily Sundberg longs for independence from her sometimes overprotective family. A teacher living on her own in town, she has eyes only for Andy who acts like she doesn’t exist. That is until Deputy Marshall Jake Edgerton comes to town. Emily and Jake are old friends and shared a few kisses when they were very young teens. Now the attraction is back though both try to fight it. Their friendship continues to grow even after Jake leaves town and Emily and her best friend and roommate, Iris embark on a cross country train adventure that puts them in Jake’s direct path.

Past regrets and guilt are the themes of Threads of Love. All the main characters are Christians, so the tone of the novel is mostly a deepening of faith and understanding. Iris’s husband-hunting antics provide a welcome comic relief, and she is by far my favorite character. Somewhat predictable and a bit tame, the book is nevertheless well written. I would recommend this novel to those who like the historical romance genre.
