I received this book as an ebook free from the author through LibraryThing in exchange for an honest review. An undercover FBI agent with one arm in a sling and his new wife on their honeymoon while on the run from the mob with a dog named Boondoggle. This was a funny and enjoyable read. There are also some scary moments. The story is hilarious and the characters are believable and likeable. I like the way Sara writes. I love the dog’s name. If you like quirky and lots of laughs I recommend you read this book. ( ![]() Deze bespreking was geschreven voorLibraryThing lid Weggevers. enry and Syd are on their honeymoon. They are also on the run. Henry is an FBI agent, who has discovered a group of crooked cops. The problem is the cops know Henry is on to them. For some reason known only to himself, Henry decides they need a dog. So with the dog Boondoggle in tow they make an escape. We have car chases, we have car swaps, we have changed identities and by the way, the groom is doing all of this with his arm in a cast. When they assume the dust has settled, they find a nice place to live. Syd is in her glory decorating their new home. But are they really safe? When Henry decides to have the women in his life come down for Easter, he hopes to convince them to stay. This causes problems of a different nature. Who is going to live where and what will that home look like? This book was funny in many places but that does not mean it was not without its frightening moments. I am looking forward to their next adventure. I received this, the second book in tithe series for free in exchange for this honest review, but I liked it so much I had to purchase the first book in the series which is equally good. A good and entertaining read. I recommend it and will definitely read it more than once. When I went to publish this review, I found and purchased book 3. I did like the sub plot of someone trying to kill Syd, at least I think that was a sub plot, it may have been the plot, it was hard to tell. There was so much conversation on the history of the mob's involvement with the government on all levels, and the IRA, and sleeper cells of Soviet spies that actually began in 1949 that I wasn't really sure what the plot was. Then there was Henry working with everyone around him to manipulate Syd (from the pound employee to the rental agent) to Henry's family conspiring to get another family member married, and Syd playing both sides of that fence. There were so many names and such long, drawn out explanations on how everything was connected that I found myself skimming much of the book. The interior design details seemed like filler and fluff that lasted way too long. I finished this book with a great deal of effort because I felt I owed it to the author. Oh the story was fine, it was the style that was confusing. Most of the plot was told through exposition conversations. Actual action was scarce or centered on decorating various spaces the couple was living in or re-doing for relatives. If you enjoy reading about home decorating this is the book for you! Kimbal or any of the other alias names her new husband works under, you see Henry is a tongue-in-cheek FBI agent. Syd has had a rough time of marriage, since her first was to a mobsters son whom she put through dental school at her own expense. For her trouble her ex tried to have her murdered to collect on the insurance... but now, Henry has saved her and bought her a cute dog to boot--or has he? To answer; the couple romp through a series of hilarious compromisingly dangerous situations that are a laugh a minute. I thoroughly enjoyed the art of comedy painted by the author as she colors each event in sharp evocative and truly funny prose. I will be reading more from this author. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
