Although the book is very sad and makes you cry at times, it was an amazing story of what one person went through. I've read many true stories of the horrors people / children have endured through their lifetimes at the hands of others, but I was never so moved as I was reading this book. My heart broke over and over for this young lady who was treated worse than any other I've read about.

This book is not for the easily offended but is written with such finesse. It's a truly shocking story of courage and true grit. Emma suffered as no child should ever have to suffer. Rebecca Donovan writes with an ease that draws the reader into the story as if it's a movie playing on a screen. Excellent, griping and never a lag or dull moment. I'm looking for the sequel right now. A book very well written!

This is a really detailed account of a terrible case of child abuse but you will also read about the things that do bring her joy too. I believe there is a book coming along to continue this story. I will definitely read that one too. ( )
