This consists of The Lucky Texan and The Man from Utah, two very early John Wayne films with him in the lead. Wayne first started appearing in films, as an extra and stunt man, in 1926, and didn't really become a star until his 1939 role in Stage Coach. These two films come from the period when he was doing low-budget B-movies--and other than Wayne, there's not one distinguished name. and Problem is, I'm really not a fan of Westerns. This was bought by my aunt, who loves them--they remind her of her childhood in rural Puerto Rico. But for me, native New Yorker, this doesn't have any kind of nostalgic appeal--and this so quickly came across to me as well, let's say not films that transcend their genre. They're 1934 films and with no director or actors of distinction other than Wayne and of poor picture and sound quality. Only tolerable for those who really, truly love Westerns or are huge John Wayne fans who must have anything he appeared in. ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
