Perfect book for summer break I enjoyed reading this book because it showed a great example of a last day of school. The point of view was very relatable to students around first grade. At first Gilbert was sad that it was the last day of school because he was going to miss his teacher, but at the end he was happy. Gilbert thinks to himself, “It didn’t feel like Mrs. Byrd’s classroom anymore.” I think that this is a very relatable quote to younger students on the last day of school. Students go through the whole year having that classroom as a home, but on the last day it is like it isn’t the same anymore. I know that I at least felt like this when I was younger, therefore by reading this book to younger students it could make them not feel as sad about the end of the year. The big idea of this book is sharing what it is like to go through the last day of school and all of the emotions that come with it, both happy and sad. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
