This was a sweet, sentimental Christmas visit with Jack, Riley and their huge extended family at the Double D. Now the fathers of four children, Jack and Riley have pretty much taken over as the heads of their families. The Double D is a thriving success and well manned doing business all over Texas. Riley's oil exploration business is pretty much running itself which gives Riley time to work out of his home office. This story gives a fond look back over the years to when Jack and Riley married back in book one and gave a promising look forward into the future of the Campbell-Hayes clan. Filled with happy times and some hard ones also, this wonderfully written story should find a prominent spot on your Christmas reading list. ( )

Cosa posso dire? FINALMENTE ci siamo! Dopo due volumi ai miei occhi deludenti sono riuscita a trovare un volume che mi ha convinto dall'inizio alla fine. In questo nuovo capitolo finalmente viene dato spazio anche ai personaggi secondari e possiamo apprezzare la loro evoluzione e come la loro vita sia cambiata nel corso del tempo. Abbiamo modo di vedere maggiormente il rapporto tra Eli e Robbie e soprattutto conoscere meglio Liam e Marcus, entrambi presentati nello scorso volume. Liam è stata una sorpresa, avevo già anticipato il mio amore per lui ma qui ha dato il meglio di sé. Ci troviamo di fronte un ragazzo di appena vent'anni e che ha dovuto sopportare molte cose brutte nella sua vita, è stato vittima di abusi sessuali e ora si sente insicuro, costantemente in fuga dal passato. Il D diventa la sua ancora di salvezza, un posto dove trovare degli amici, dei "padri" e... Marcus, l'uomo capace di fargli battere il cuore a mille. All'inizio Liam non vuole avvicinarsi a lui ma Marcus non si arrende e nonostante questo atteggiamento mi abbia un po' infastidito all'inizio, non amando molto gli uomini troppo insistenti e molesti e che non sembrano accettare un no come risposta, in poco è riuscito a stregarmi. Marcus è più vecchio di Liam, ha 8 anni in più e si dimostra saggio e paziente nonostante il suo modo di fare. Nonostante l' insistenza iniziale capisce in poco tempo le esigenze del compagno e gli permette di aprirsi. È stato molto dolce vedere Liam confidarsi per la prima volta con Jack e Robbie ma soprattutto con Marcus, raccontando il suo dolore e la sua vergogna per quel torto subito. Ho apprezzato moltissimo il fatto che la loro storia sia meno erotica rispetto a quella di Jack e Riley e di Robbie ed Eli ma non per questo priva di passione, il rapporto tra loro è lento e dolcissimo ed è una gioia vedere entrambi arrivare al sesso con pazienza, non guidati dalla passione istintiva e animalesca ma dall'amore e dalla fiducia. Ho amato questa nuova coppia che è in assoluto al momento la mia preferita dell'intera serie. Non mancano ovviamente altri eventi importanti al D primo fra tutti quello che coinvolge Riley e Jack, i due riescono finalmente ad allargare ulteriormente la famiglia adottando il dolcissimo Max, un bambino autistico conosciuto dalla coppia nello scorso libro, un bambino difficile e che ha subito fin troppi abbandoni nella vita. Inutile dire che ho provato una tenerezza infinita per quel dolce bimbo e...come dimenticare Hayley? La bimba ora ha 12 anni e si sta avviando piano piano verso l'adolescenza, sta iniziando ad interessarsi ai ragazzi ed in particolare al caro Logan, un cuginetto di Jack che spero possa presto entrare in scena, non vedo l'ora che la buffa bambina che abbiamo imparato ad amare e conoscere diventi una donna a tutti gli effetti, non vedo l'ora di vederla in futuro alle prese con l'amore e...con i suoi papà iperprotettivi 🤣 insomma... Che dire? Questo libro mi ha conquistata dimostrando come l'autore sia in grado di scrivere una storia emozionante e anche realistica senza però lasciare da parte il mood caratteristico della serie, avevo dubitato visti gli ultimi due capitoli un po' deludenti ma dopo questo...mi devo ricredere. Spero si continui con questo ritmo, che si continui a dare spazio anche ad altri personaggi e sinceramente... spero ci possa essere qualche piccola speranza di rivedere Vaughn, nonostante sia comparso poco in scena mi ha fatto una buona impressione e ho apprezzato il suo tentativo di mettere in guardia Liam dal pericolo, spero possa comparire nuovamente perché credo possa essere un bel personaggio, spero inoltre di vedere finalmente Liam in azione e deciso a denunciare l'uomo che gli ha rovinato la vita. Insomma... incrocio le dita per il prossimo capitolo! ( )

The saga of the very unconventional Texas family continues – and it was good to see what was next for these guys. As always, in best soap-opera tradition, I felt as if I were coming home or at the very least visiting with close family. One that is constantly growing, and with the much-awaited addition of little five-year-old Max it seems as if there have been enough additions for now. Of course, there is the matter of a nanny for tiny twins Connor and Lexie, the fact that Riley's daughter Haley is undeniably growing up, and the many other family members I was happy to see again. And while Jack and Riley remain front and center in the relationship department, there was enough of Eli and Robbie to keep me happy, not to mention the newest couple, Marcus and Liam.

Riley, the oil-magnate into "green oil", and his husband Jack, a cowboy and ranch owner, are as much in love, and as hot together, as always. The addition of four children to their existence as a couple may hamper their bedroom activities a little, but they more than make up for it in the intensity of their encounters. And the way they deal with all the issues that crop up, including a threat from Liam's past, just makes me sigh with happiness. If only more couples were able to figure out how to deal with life's crises this well! Both of them focus on making Max, the newest member of their family, feel at home, and seeing the little borderline-autistic boy prosper was very rewarding indeed.

Eli and Robbie are dealing with life admirably well, and I liked how Robbie turned mentor and supporter for new ranch-hand and horse-whisperer Liam. The young man is shy and clearly has a horrible past, but the way Robbie includes him in everything and makes him feel safe goes a long way to making Liam feel at home. The budding romance between Marcus (the owner of the surrogacy company that Jack and Riley worked with to have the twins) was beautiful to watch. I had no idea Marcus could be that persistent, but it becomes clear that when he sees someone worth going after, there is no stopping him.

I had no chance to be bored – not that I expected it with these guys or their friends. The time leading up to Christmas, then the holiday itself, was beautiful, and I enjoyed every moment of the passion, adventure, and all the emotions unfolding before my eyes. If you like the Campbell-Hayes men and their clan and want to find out what's going on in their lives, if you enjoy romantic soap operas and heart-stopping drama, and if you're looking for a fun and emotional read with lots of heat between loving husbands who live in the heart of Texas, give this book a go. I'm already looking forward to the next installment!
