"Welcome to the Family! It's just like yours: father, mother, sister, brother, abuelita, gato. Well, but, there's something just a little bit different about this family. Maybe it's those clothes they wear... just a little bit fashion backward. And the colors! So vibrant and... lively. Maybe that's what it is. They are just so full of life. Familia-life from a Day of the Dead perspective!"-- Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |

Next, although this book is informational, I believe that the illustrations used in this story made the book interesting. A book about families, this author uses skeletons as a representation of a family including a sister, a brother, a baby, a mother, a father, a grandmother, a grandfather, a great-grandmother, and pets. It is indicated in this book that the illustrations are used as a play-off of the Mexican holiday, The Day of The Dead. This broadens perspective for English readers in that they can further learn about different cultures regarding languages and holidays.
I think the main idea of this book is to inform readers how to read about members of a family in the Spanish and English languages. Through the bilingualism, illustrations and overall text used, I think the author conveyed this message/main idea well. ( )
