Take a peek inside this book and you'll find some characters (though they're still a bit sketchy). They'll be perplexed to see you, so they'll quickly try to track down their author (who has a lot more work to do). What you won't find is a story, or a title, because, guess what? The book isn't finished yet! But surely the author must have a story to tell? In this charming "meta" picture book, children of all ages are encouraged to interact with a book still in the process of being invented. And that's a story in itself!.… (meer)

What if you picked out a book to read, but the characters weren’t ready for you yet? A clever new picture book from the creator of the New York Times bestseller Press Here.

Tullet writes himself into the book that he didn't finish yet. The characters in the story call for his help because they discover they are being watched by a reader. They ask his help to give the reader a story, even though he says he's not finished yet. If I were a young student reading this book, it would be so inspiring to see a book that doesn't necessarily have to have certain formal structures and rules. Any story they can think up, is a start. Even the illustrations, while colorful and and different, look unfinished, until Tullet starts to tell a mini story within this story and they become more polished. ( )

A wonderfully playful work of interactive metafiction. ( )

B+ Wow. I don’t know where to start for this book. What a delightfully strange style for any age reader. In the beginning of the book I thought the author had used children’s drawings for the illustrations but after reading a few pages realized it was just his own quirky art decorating the pages. I believe children could really relate to this colorful and abstract book about not knowing what to write about.

A simple, yet creative narrative sure to delight young readers. The childlike drawing style is always well balanced across the pages and it is a bright and fun read. The Artist/Illustrator uses himself and his photo in the book to tell the story. ( )
