I loved every book in this series and this one is no different. For the longest time I wondered who will end up with this hero and I was pleasantly surprised at this pairing.

The heroine was vulnerable, yet strong and brave. The hero was noble and as much vulnerable as the heroine. Together they made a perfect couple and an interesting duo who pulled together in order to put a stop to a formidable villain.

If you're looking for a fast paced, well written and entertaining romance with a surprising mystery element, this is definitely it. Be warned though. If you've not read the previous books in this series, I think you might be a bit lost in regards to the back story of the hero. The book is structured to stand alone but I found that not reading the previous books would have put me at a disadvantage.

The Wicked Widow is a fun, lighthearted romance. The characters are easy to understand and the plot is very straight forward. This would be an excellent beach read for anyone who enjoys a good love story.

Grace Crowther was gambled away by her irresponsible father to a cruel and neglectful man, the doctor, who is a member of a gang called the Kingsmen. After his untimely death early in the novel by the gang, Grace becomes their next target. She might know something which puts the gang in danger and they cannot risk that information getting out. They will do whatever it takes to quiet her.

Langdon Bourne is a prestigious member of the ton, but after being jilted by the woman he thought he would marry, he has lost his way. He is used to life going according to plan and has difficulty readjusting when the life he thought he was working towards had changed. Determined to find the killer of a friend's mother, he redoubles his efforts to solve the case. When he finds out the widow Crowther may have missing information a plan is made to use her to get to the leaders of the Kingsmen. What Langdon feels to realize is some things may become more important than finding the killer ... like exposing Grace to danger.

The story is a bit predictable, but enjoyable none the less. The characters are likable and not very complex. The steaminess is mild. The Wicked Widow is a fun light read (

I received this book as part of the Early Reviewers program. I had read one of the earlier books in the series, so it was fun to learn how everthing tied together. I liked this book so much that I promptly read one of the other books in the series.

"The Wicked Widow" is really not so wicked, abused would be a better term. The opening book sets the tension for what comes next, altough there were times that the pacing seemed a little slow. Overally a good book, and could be read stand-alone. (

I received this book as a member of the Librarything.com Early Reviewers Group. The Wicked Widow Meets Her Match is the sixth book in a series. I have not read any of the prior books, but did enjoy this one. It is true to its genre and is intriguing as well as easy to read. Langdon Bourne is investigating his friend's mother's death as a Young Corinthians spymaster. This mystery started when most of the characters of this series were children. Luckily the mystery is solved in the book. Grace Crowther is on the run after having witnessed/listened to her husbands murder. A man she was forced to marry due to her father's gambling debt. Langdon decides to use Grace as bait. He later begins to realize there can be more to life than work and feels guilt for putting Grace in danger. Grace begins to get some of her self-value back after years of abuse. Storyline is easy to follow and entertaining. I will probably read the rest of the series. (

I received this book as part of the LibraryThing Early Reviewers program. I liked the two main characters, Grace and Langdon. I particularly liked the friendship between Langdon and Niles, as well as the (very) few interactions between Grace and Niles. My frustration with the book was that I had a hard time reconciling the whole secret agent aspect with the historical plotline. Not that I don't believe the two can be put together -- it was more that there were just pieces of the way it was written that I found jarring (and there were also a few places where I just couldn't follow the story), which is why I couldn't quite give it a 4. But it was close enough that, if I had the option, I would have given it a 3.75. (
