He's in for the fight of his life . . . Army captain Trent Davila loved his wife, Laura, and their two beautiful children. But when he almost lost his life in combat, something inside him died. He couldn't explain the emptiness he felt or bridge the growing distance between him and his family - so he deployed again. And again. And again...until his marriage reached its breaking point. Now, with everything on the line, Trent has one last chance to prove to his wife that he can be the man she needs ...if she'll have him . . . to win back his only love. Laura is blindsided when Trent returns home. Time and again, he chose his men over his family, and she's just beginning to put the pieces of her shattered heart back together. But when Trent faces a court martial on false charges, only Laura can save him. What begins as an act of kindness to protect his career inflames a desire she thought long buried - and a love that won't be denied. But can she trust that this time he's back to stay?… (meer)

This series consists of pretty light, basic reads. They are ok. ( )

This story is a perfect example for why I don’t read many ‘military tropes’. Even knowing that the end will be a happy one, the road to it tends to be fraught with heartbreak and if the author is a good one, as Ms. Scott is, by the end, I’m a total mess.

I also appreciated the author giving me both points of view, Laura’s and Trent’s. I don’t think the story would have been ... thanks for jumping to b2b to finish reading my review ...

Heartbreaking look at a man whose given his life to the Army and ended up not only losing his family but he also lost himself and has no idea how to repair the damage he’s caused and become a normal functioning person away from war.

Trent and Laura’s story started in Because of You. At first glance we thought they had the perfect marriage with two children. But before long everything came unraveled. When that book ended not only had Trent lost good men along with two of his closes friends were wounded he was also being accused of crimes that if convicted he faced being court marshaled and his wife served him with divorce papers.

This book picks up with Trent going home to try and salvage not only his reputation but also his marriage. This book shows us why this series is called Coming Home. My heart broke for Trent for most of this book. The author did a fabulous job of showing what its like for these guys seeing what they see over there and having to come back home and try and act like they haven’t seen the atrocities they have and then try to have a normal relationship with their wives and children. We’re also given the view of the army wife who stood by her man through many deployments basically playing the role of single mother for years and she was ok with that until Trent stop communicating with her and lied about the reasons for all of his deployments.

The root of this book is about two people who used to love each other deeply then realizing that they are no longer the two people they married and then getting to know each other again and seeing that it doesn’t matter that they’ve changed because the core of their love is still there.

I’ve wanted Trent and Laura’s story since I first read Because of You and I was not disappointed.

All I can say is WOW. What a wonderfully moving and compelling story. Trent knows he only has one chance to save his marriage but he has no idea how. After being absent from his marriage for most of the last decade he has learn how to do it all again. You will want to read this one! Jessica Scott writes books about military families and the struggles they face in the most amazing way. This book is full of emotion you feel from the very first page. I highly recommend this one! The plot of this book about rebuilding a relationship with trust and communication was so good that it made up for when I thought they put too much importance on sex as atonement. Trent and Laura's marriage is on the rocks but he desperately wants a second chance and he is facing a court-martial.
