There need to be more picture books about tapirs.

The message of this story is that not everyone expresses himself or herself in the same way.
I really enjoyed this book because of the message. Originally, I wasn’t sure what this books message would be but I’m glad that it was this one. I liked how the author had every character express themselves in different ways: songs, stories, and poems. I feel like this was important because when it came to Tapir’s friends, they all used words to express themselves while Tapir could not but finally he was able to express himself through pictures. Although Tapir’s way of expression was a bit different than his friends, they still thought that he’s picture was absolutely wonderful. I loved the message.
I also loved the illustrations of this book. They were not perfectly straight or completely filled in but they look as though an older child drew them. I think it added something to the book as a whole because it shows that one can draw even though they may not be perfect. I also I think it would be quite pleasing to young children because the animals are distinct enough to tell the difference between them while being colorful and creatively drawn. ( )

This book is about a the main character Tapir trying to figure out why he can not come up with the words to write a story and all of his friends letting him know that he will be okay. Tapir was upset that words came to all of his friends easily and they did not come to him so easily. Tapir went to a quite place and looked out at the view and began to draw. He learns that he did not need words to convey what he wanted his friends to know. The main theme of this book is just because you are not good at what everyone else is, does not mean you’re not good at something different.

I like the illustrations in the book because they are drawn like a child would have drawn them with colored pencils. This relates to the book because Tapir used pencils to draw his picture in the book. Another reason I like this book is that people can relate to the theme of not being good at what everyone else is, like in the book where Tapir can not come up with words easily to write in his notebook. Over I liked this book because of the illustrations and message. ( )
