I was a perpetually single thirty-something who managed to find love on a dating website. My journey (and it was a journey) was not the shortest distance between two points. In fact, the best words to describe my journey into, and out of, the land of dating is "evolutionary." Hello, my name is Linda, and I am flirting impaired: here is my story...... As a thirty-something professional woman with her own home and a beloved cat Linda decided to start searching for a mate. I've been there and done that and it is not easy. I found my soul mate before the days of the internet but I'm not sure it was easier or harder than today's searches. You still have to be prepared to kiss a lot of toads along the way. Linda chronicles her early days of going to singles dances and exploring computer dating sites. One of the people she met through the dating site used the handle "Pelucid". He lived in Calgary so they communicated solely online. Meanwhile Linda continued to date some of the men who lived in Winnipeg. That's where the "kiss a lot of toads" came in. Her online relationship with Pelucid progressed to the point where it was obvious they had to meet. Pelucid flew to Winnipeg for a week and the two proved that their online relationship worked in person. Soon Pelucid was making plans to move permanently to Winnipeg and Linda deregistered her account on the dating website. Pelucid and Linda were made for each other but they certainly experienced some hurdles along the way which Linda bravely divulges.
For anyone who is searching for the right other half Linda's grandmother's saying should give them heart "Every pot has its lid". The trick is finding it in that big disorganized crockery drawer. ( )
