Kian comes from a different realm, parallel to but different from our reality, and is here to hunt down an evil being that has killed his uncle in the cruelest possible way - by stealing his Fire. Fire is the sort of magik everyone has in Kian’s world, and comes in different colors. Sounds like a simple need for vengeance, right? Except there are certain rules when dealing with Fire, there is a prophesy about what will need to happen when Kian finds his mate, and Kian broke all kinds of rules to make it to our Earth. The result is an almost impossible task, and Kian is too determined to give up, and too nice to ruin Regan’s life. In other words, he is in deep trouble!
Regan is a tough guy who trusts no one. He hunts demons for a living, as his entire family has done for centuries. He works alone though, so when Kian explains what is needed to defy this mysterious guy he is looking for, Regan’s skepticism takes over. Regan is not only a commitment-phobe, he is also too much a realist to believe in all that nonsense about bonding and mates, so he is determined to get the job done, reluctantly working with Kian, only to run back to his old life right after. Except there is something about Kian that doesn’t sit right with Regan…
If you like stories with magik, mysterious enemies, and prophesies, if you want to find out about two men trying to remain independent despite one knowing better than to try and the other just being stubborn, and if you’re looking for a read that is as fantastical as it is hot and entertaining, then you will probably like this novella.
