BR with Elsbeth on Saturday, May 2nd The Golem of Mala Lubovnya by Kim Fielding...3.5 stars Had I not known before hand, I would have said this was a work by Kim Fielding, no question. Like Brute and The Pillar, this story has a soft charismatic quality to it. Her ability to create these lovable brute-like characters is truly magical. This one I loved as well...however at about 75% I felt as if pages were missing...chunks of story getting lost. The fantasy element may not be for everyone but I find these transformations fascinating...only wished we had gotten more on the how to be able to buy into this world completely. “I didn’t make you to protect anyone, Emet. I don’t care how strong you are, and God forbid you should ever need to fight again. I made you this time, and I made you for love, from love. Not to be a golem, but to be a man.” Watchworks by Jamie Fessenden Reparation by Eli Easton Made for Aaron by Sue Brown " geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Onderdeel van de reeks(en)Gothika (1)
Gothika: Volume One When a certain kind of man is needed, why not make him to order? Such things can be done, but take care: Much can go wrongâbut then, sometimes it can go wonderfully right. Imagine... In The Golem of Mala Lubovnya , a seventeenth century rabbi creates a man of clay to protect the Jews, and the golem lives a life his maker never imagined, gaining a nameâEmetâand the love of a good man, Jakob Abramov. But their love may not survive when Emet must fulfill his violent purpose. In Watchworks , Luke Prescott lives as a gentleman in a London that never was. His unique needs bring him to famed watchmaker Harland Wallace. Romance might blossom for them if Harland can come to terms with loving a man and keeping him safe. In Made for Aaron , a young man in an asylum for being gay met the love of his life, Damon Fox. Twenty years later, Aaron thinks his life is over when Damon dies and then disappears from the hospital. Aaron is determined to find the truth, but secrets hide the unthinkable. Reparations unfolds on the harsh planet of Kalan, where weakness cannot be tolerated. When Edward needs help, his life becomes entwined with exceptional cyborg slave, Knox. But when Knox remembers things he shouldn't know, the two may pay a blood price for their taboo alliance. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |

Besides every reaction being so over the top it made me roll my eyes, not even a chapter in I could see that the relationship between the two MCs is probably really unhealthy. Aaron has some serious dependency issues and I'm not in the mood to get pissed off while reading.
The Golem of Mala Lubovnya by Kim Fielding - 3*
Lovely story. But while reading it I began to realize I don't really like the "creature" theme.
Watchworks by Jamie Fessenden - 3*
Also a lovely story, but it just reinforced the fact that I'm not really comfortable with the theme.
Reparation by Eli Easton - 4.5*
This one saved the anthology for me. I'm not sure why it was different - maybe because the "creature" was most definitely for the most part human? I don't know. But I loved it! ( )
