I quite enjoyed this book for the most part. The characters were realistic and appealing and the story line was solid but I did have one quibble with the book. This issue had to do with an extremely annoying choice the author made in regards to the male main characters accent. He has a Southie accent fine but you don't need to mention this every time he speaks it just becomes obnoxious and distracting. ( )

I loved this book. It was angsty, emotional, romantic, frustrating at times, and suspenseful. It was your typical bad boy/good girl romance theme, but the Author threw in twists to make it her own. I found myself instantly addicted from page one and couldn't wait to see what happened in the end.

The story was about a girl, Olivia, moving away to college to put space between her and an ex boyfriend. She never expected to be knocked over by bad boy, Brax, but when she was... her life turned upside down. Everything she told herself couldn't happen started to. Her mind set on no boyfriends... knocked out the window... The mind set of only thoughts about school and astronomy... gone. Brax was what consumed her mind and she was struggling to be ok with it. When a ghost from the past shows up and adds more drama she starts falling even harder for Brax. He is her protector and knight in shining armor... That is until secrets are revealed. Those secrets rip Olivia's heart in two.

I loved the angsty banter between Brax and Olivia. The relationship between the two reminded me of Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire. Same cocky, arrogant boy that is undone by the good girl. Olivia is smart, witty, and kind of geeky. I loved her and Brax, well he is my new book boyfriend of the week. I loved how he was edgy and raw, yet sweet and caring too. The two of them together were quite the pair. I am team Brax and Gracie all the way!

I definitely think the Author did a wonderful job with this story. My heart broke at the end. but I was happy with how it all turned out. With that being said... I Highly recommend Stupid Girl... It's everything a New Adult Romance should be.

Only in the first 12% of the book, I found:

• Four mentions of the "strange" eyes of Brax.

1. “And those eyes are so freaky creeping weird.”

2. Brax Jenkins’s peculiar eyes stared down at me from the doorway.

3. I hurried and shifted my eyes back to his, only to find a knowing gleam in those strange blue irises.

4. I stared at the thin band of silver on my finger, then the clear blue of his odd eyes.

• THIRTEEN (!!!) mentions of the way that Brax talk. No kidding, 13 mentions in only 12% of the book. Editors, where are you? Like, ok, I get it, he has an accent. Now, MOVE ON.

1. The way he said sweetheart came out like sweethaht. Pardon, pahdon.

2. "Least you can do for charging my nuts with your knee.” Chahgin’.

3. “Fucking retards.” Fahkin retahds.

4. “What’d you do that for?” Whah’d you do that fah?

5. “I saw that smile you was tryin’ so hard to hide.” Hahd to hide.

6.“You’re one of those wicked smart girls, aren’t ya?” Smaht.

7. “Don’t forget,” Fahget.

8. “Scar?” Scah.

9. “I’d argue with you.” Ahgue.

10. “A fuckin’ yard sale?” The way Brax said fahkin’ yahd was kinda funny.

11. His sharp accent and cocky remark took me off-guard.

12. His accent was strong and vulgar, yet … charming.

13. I noticed then that the letter R simply didn’t exist in Brax’s vocabulary.

• And, of course, there's instalove.

How had he affected me so fast? Now that was a real talent. Day one with Brax Jenkins, and I was already thoroughly kissed, charmed .

After all that, I couldn't keep going. Seriously I COULDN'T. Every time I read a sentence I felt that one of my gray cells died.

Why publishers are determined to continue publishing books that are so bad?

Just dreadful.

Have you ever seen She’s all that? It’s like an old 90s movie with Paul Walker and Freddie Prince Jr. well anyway it’s about a bet to turn the geekiest girl in school into prom queen only Freddie Prince Jr. ends up falling for the girl. Well I found Stupid Girl to be almost the same except we are now in college and the bet is a lot different.

Olivia is a college freshman trying desperately to get away from her small town. The summer before senior year her boyfriend Kelsy Evans raped her. She was the victim of rumors, shaming, the whole she wanted it but just won’t admit it thing. She vowed to never trust another man, or fall in love again. She wears a ring kind of like a virginity ring to remind herself of that promise. On her first of college she is run over by Brax Jenkins. He is the campus man whore; he loves them and leaves them. And the tattoos he has all over only makes him that much more of a bad boy. The guy you don’t want to fall in love with because he’s got heartbreak written all over him.

Olivia and Brax start a friendship despite the many warnings that many tried to give her. I really loved their friendship, the fact that they would talk and hang out without trying more. Slowly, the friendship blossoms into something more. I was a little taken back by how Olivia fell so quickly for Brax because of her past I would’ve thought it would’ve happened a lot slower. He was pretty persistent and charming so I guess in a way I could see why but still it bothered me. However, I loved seeing Brax trying hard to prove he was a good guy. He wanted to learn about the things that interested her and really get to know her. At times his overprotectiveness was a bit too much for me at times.

The whole bet thing? Even though most of the book blows off the bet thing claiming it was just a rumor. I had feeling it wasn’t just a rumor. It seemed kind of predictable but the events that transpired after I wasn’t expecting. It was a bit cliché. The tattooed bad boy with a dark past falling the nerdy girl no one would’ve thought caught his attention. I found myself skimming parts just to get to the point and some parts that reminded of You were mine by Abbi Glines, like Brax following Olivia home even though at the moment they aren’t speaking just to make sure she gets home. One thing I would’ve liked more was Brax’s POV, I really felt like I would’ve liked the story more if I had understood his view better.

Something about this book bugged me. I don’t know if it was the fact that the rape issue was taken so lightly and that it was the butt of many jokes. I don’t know but something really bugged me about this book. I would give 3.5 stars.

So glad I didn't listen to some of the poor reviews for this one. I found this to be a very enjoyable read. The writing was great and I really connected with the characters. And even though both main characters had baggage from the past to deal with, their relationship slowly but surely moved forward. None of the back and forth I find in other books. It was filled with humor, angst, and personal growth. I'd definitely recommend this one to anyone. ( )
