En zo komen we bij Kleins stokpaardje, en de kern van haar betoog: beterschap voor het klimaat komt er pas als ook enkele hoekstenen van het kapitalisme onderuit gaan. Zolang de overheid niet regulerend optreedt tegen vervuilende industrieën, zolang de premisse van eeuwige groei voor de olie-industrie blijft bestaan, zolang zal het klimaatprobleem niet opgelost geraken.
