KATY DUCK'S HAPPY HALLOWEEN is at the middle First Grade Reading Level. It has 269 words.
This is cute story that begins with Katy getting dressed for Trick or Treat. She is absolutely delighted with her costume until she see's Alice's costume which is so very glittery. Then she starts to have less of a good time.
The story ends with a cute solution that makes Katy and Alice happy. (And yeah, didn't add any spoilers.)
KATY DUCK'S HAPPY HALLOWEEN is a nice practice reader that let's adults talk about jealousy if they want to. For example, Katy let her admiration for Alice's costume interfere with her fun. I think that gives us an opportunity to discuss why jealousy isn't a good thing.
