He knows how to build a split rail fence, grow lush vegetables, make buttermilk pancakes, and tap syrup from a tree. But he doesn’t know how to read and he decides to learn. He goes to school with the area kids and as he learns to read, he also shares what he knows with the teacher and classmates. Finally, he is able to read a book of poems to his wife which inspires her to learn to read. A nice story about literacy and sharing knowledge and life experiences. This book is abotu how an older man wants to learn how to read. He begins to go to school so he can learn how to read. He wants to learn to read so he can read to his wife. Eventually, Jeremiah learns to read and his wife wants him to teach her how to read now. This story is a heart warming story that will touch everyone. Jeremiah is an older man who has never learned to read, but desires greatly to be able to read the book. So, he goes to an elementary school with young children and slowly begins learning letters, etc., until he is able to read a book to his wife. By doing this, he inspires his wife to want to learn to read, also. I can't imagine going through life not knowing how to read books. I find it inspirational though that this books proves it is never to late to learn something new. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
