Lard writes from a Restorationist perspective in the 19th century. He is quite familiar with many of the major commentaries on Romans in his time. He does well at maintaining conversation with other commentators and on the issues in Romans. Even if one ultimately disagrees with a given conclusion one is forced to grapple with the well-defined arguments which Lard makes.
Lard provides the Greek text and his own English translation by section; his full translation is given at the end. He gives great care to the translation of terms (although some of his decisions re: justification or righteousness are a bit difficult to accept). His interpretations feature elements which are good for people to at least consider; he will surprise you on many fronts no matter your position on various topics.
Definitely worth considering; it would be good for this to again be in print. (
