In Peter Puck and the Runaway Zamboni Machine, Peter's good friend, Tony the Zamboni, longs for adventure. When Tony disappears, Peter and referee George Phair head out to find him. Tony loves being out in the big wide world, especially when he enters a race at the speedway. Peter arrives just in time to hop on and drive, but a run-in with two nasty drivers threatens to put them on the sidelines. Can Peter and Tony stay in the race? And will the runaway Zamboni return to the arena and prepare the ice for the big game?… (meer)

Cheesy pictures sort of take away from this cute story. My daughter was bored to tears, but my son listened politely. Overall, I thought the story was okay. I guess hockey just isn't our thing. ( )

Kids enjoyed this book. We play at an ice rink in the off season, and sometimes stop to watch the zamboni, and we have several matchbox zambonies in our collection, so they can make a connection. It is unusual in that it is a different kind of truck than is usually depicted in children's books. ( )

He sees many different things and then ends up at a race track. He enters a race with two race car drivers who are very mean and do anything to win.Peter Puck arrives to be the driver. They defeat al the tricks the two other drives try to get them out of the race, and in the end, win the race, Tony is happy that his friend Peter helped him and realizes that his place in life is in the ice arena. He goes bak with Peter to continue his work on the ice.
It is a fun story, especially for kids who enjoy hockey and /or are interested in Zambonis. ( )

I received a free kindle copy of Peter Puck and the Runaway Zamboni Machine by Brian McFarlane, published by Random House of Canada Limited from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.

This children's book is written for ages six to nine & is a cutely illustrated story about a Zamboni ice making machine that decided he was tired of driving in circles. He ventures out into the world away from the ice rink & discovers that his job isn't so bad after all. I gave it four stars. ( )

I received a copy of "Peter Puck and the Runaway Zamboni Machine" by author Brian McFarlane and Geri Storey (Illustrator) compliments of LibraryThing Early Reviewers Program. What Canadian child, with a passion for hockey, has not been in awe of the Zamboni! The main character of this book, along with his buddy, Peter the Puck is sure to make the childhood reader happy! The story speaks to friendship, adventure and commitment. It also touches on problem-solving and appreciation. There is a good lesson to be taught through a memorable story with eye-catching illustrations. I am not sure of what ages I would recommend this book for as the vocabulary is rather advanced for little ones. I suggest it would be a "read to your child" book. I am sure that this book would be a fan favorite and entice children to want to read more in the series. Appreciated the opportunity and cannot wait to share with the little people in my life. ( )
