He finds problems regarding addition, subtraction, sorting, and shapes. This book does an excellent job stating everyday addition/subtraction problems in Max's everyday life, and then relates it to the respective math sentence. The book also teaches young readers how to count, sort objects, and combine shapes. I think the wacky nature and illustrations of the book would be very appealing to kids, and think this would be a great supplement to a math lesson. This is a really fun book about a boy named Max who drives around town looking for problems, literally. This story addresses addition, shapes, and numbers. This could be a fun book for students to explore, as it briefly covers a lot of concepts. One thing I really liked was how in the story Max couldn't find a square, but he found two triangles to make a square. I could see this story helping students link concepts together, as well as review and discover the different concepts that they learned. Max is on an adventure to solve problems, math problems that is! Max enlists the help of his brother Ben to join him on his math adventure. They ride around town searching for problems. They learn that in the town of Shapeville the mayor is searching for the town square because a storm blew the shapes all over town. They help solve the problem by putting the shapes back together to make stop signs and a kite. After the kite was put together it swept them away to space. They had to connect the stars in order to get back to Shapeville. When they arrive Max and Ben must help find the numbers to count down, and they do. After they return home from their big math adventure. The illustrations are bright and vivid and composed of math elements such as numbers, shapes, and lines. This book provides great visualization of connections between math concepts. It not only depicts connects but motivates the reader to be a problem solver. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
