Clever, but maybe a little too self-aware. Still a fun read and the art is very good throughout, enhanced by vignettes by guest artists in each section. Some of the more modern-day references I feel hurt the fairy-tale setting, but that just seems to be how fantasy is written nowadays. All-in-all an enjoyable read. ( )
