This was a story tinged with sadness. Things coming to an end, families breaking apart, dreams of being the cause of the death for a loved one, the death of innocents. Well, strike that last s there (and add an 'an' before innocent).
I assume to drum up business, though it isn't explained, a psychic has been hired to do a thrice a week show. And business has, in fact, picked up, so much so that there's feelings that the McInnes family can't keep up. Or, at least, Hugh makes a comment like that, and Annabella is flustered, nervous, and fearful. To a certain extent because of 'misplaced' money, to a certain extent because the psychic has reminded Annabella about how much bad luck she seems to have had recently. The psychic pins the blame to a black cat. Namely Leger.
Meanwhile, Lily's rolling around depressed in the office. Batting at cables. Hunting a spider. Watching people visit the office late at night in a suspicious manner. Mostly, though, avoiding Bob the dog. Who still hates Lily for putting forth the idea that Carole might have been involved in a prior mystery. Bob is a very unforgiving dog.
Crimes are committed, mysteries are solved, people are killed (though it takes including dreams with real life to turn that from person to people), cats are fed and occasionally petted, and the 5th Leger Hotel Mystery wraps up, at the very least, the hotel mysteries. ( )
