Onderdeel van de reeks(en)The Keeper Saga (3)
Magic and adventure abound in this final installment of the Keeper Saga. Nikki's nightmares are back and they are worse than ever. In a thick blanket of fog, a beautiful woman walks thru the Deadlands, bringing a dark, strong evil unlike anything the forest has ever seen, threatening to destroy all that the Keepers are bound to protect. As the guardian of Wynter's book, Nikki discovers a new magic held within its pages and a power that will affect good and evil magic alike. Hoping the secret to defeating Crow Woman lies in the book's knowledge, the Keepers join forces with an unlikely ally. Will Nikki and the Keepers be strong enough to win the battle over evil--or will they be lost to it forever? Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |

(1) The easiest to mention is just the simple fact that's been a while since I read anything in this series so it took me a while to remember everything. Yeah, this one's on me. I could have, at the very least, glanced at the prior works before I started. I mean, something as simple as looking at the descriptions. This is the easiest to mention, though, because it also went away quickly. Once I remembered just what series I was reading, and stuff.
(2) Book is called 'Wynter's War', and while there is a specific thingie directly connected to Wynter that appears throughout the book - - (a) Wynter isn't in most of the book and (b) I wouldn't exactly call what was in the book to be a war.
(3) The book kept on the edge, almost verging over, but just barely keeping on the right side of pissing me off - on the issue of the 'women are fragile and must be protect' mindset that was almost allowed to fully blossom. I mean, more than once Adam told Nikki to stay behind him, or the like, and she was - at that moment, a hell of a lot more powerful and able to protect herself than Adam was. That bloody mind-set that women are fragile things that are basically are worthless as anything but objects that needed to be protected . . . almost was there. As I said, it was a thin edge. Strained over a few times, kept from falling over because there were strong women in the series.
(4) I never really connected with the tension. I mean, everything seemed way too easy. Many people injured, one or more on the edge of death or greater than being on the edge of death and . . . I still say that everything was too bloody easy. War is hell. Where was the hell?
A fifth would be how lovey-dovey Adam and Nikki were, but I already knew what type of book it would be going in so . . . I can't really call it an issue/problem. Just . . . it was bloody off-putting, it was. ( )
