I received an early copy of When the Jaguar Sleeps in exchange for an honest review. The style of the writing makes me think this book is written in English by a non-native speaker. The writing is awkward and the style is trying too hard to be detailed and descriptive, comes off amateur and distracting. Similarly, the attempt at character development is forced, almost as if the author is emulating style elements but goes too far, too quickly. Any effort at writing a novel is admirable, however some have got it and some do not. This attempt is quite forced and as a result, the style is distracting and does not help to get the reader engaged in the story. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
