This picture book would be a great read-aloud in a young classroom, or a good bed-time story to read to toddlers or K-1st graders. I enjoyed this story because it reminded me of the first books I learned how to read. The pages are thick and therefore young children can not only grasp them to turn the page, but the pages will not wear as easily. The writing on each page is no more than a few sentences and the font is big. The word choice demonstrates lower reading levels which is good for readers first learning. For example, it uses very common words and the illustrations are detailed enough that the reader could interpret what is happening by the picture. The story represents the relationship between a parent figure and a child. It is a very loving and affectionate book that would make anyone reading it feel and hopefully relate to the bond. This book also includes an element of poetry, which would make it easy to memorize. Many of the pages rhyme. Overall, this is a great picture book to read to young students. ( )
