Someone clearly doesn't like China. It screams "China bad! USA good!" in every chapter. There's a hacker in one of the books and if he doesn't find who he is looking for he is dead.... because that's what China does to people. So far they have also bombed a mountain, sunk a US ship, killed lots of people. On the other hand the USA saves the day. The author also writes about everyday stuff that China does that is bad. Like being one of the biggest coal providers in the world. Sure, that isn't great, but somehow I don't think the author dislikes the biggest coal provider in the world (Australia) because, well because they aren't China (or Muslims).

Read a few chapters and you instantly know this is written by an American. Disgusting. ( )

The trilogy beginning with Breakthrough continues. In Leap a means of slowing aging and speeding healing was discovered in a cavern on a South American mountain top. This discovery was coveted and jealously guarded by high-level Chinese officials including one of which who used his authority to sink a Chinese ship carrying evidence of the find and diverted samples that were supposed to be delivered to his bosses in Beijing. This official, General Wei, then committed suicide. In Catalyst, Steve Caesare, with the help of DeeAnn Draper, Juan Diaz and a small SEAL team, takes on a Brazilian opponent, Otero, in the search for a small monkey whose genes contain evidence of the miracle. Otero has managed, with the blessing of the Brazilian President, to commandeer a company of Brazilian soldiers in order to locate the monkey. Meanwhile, John Clay is in China trying to locate General Wei’s daughter, the recipient of the samples that General Wei diverted before committing suicide. Concurrently, Alison Shaw, Will Borger and the dolphins, Dirk and Sally look for a similar miracle underwater near Trinidad.

Like the other books in this series, the author has crafted a cliff-hanging race against time with the future of the world as we know it hanging in the balance. Powerful and evil men seek the life-giving miracle for their own benefit. They have the power to kill for it and they do kill for it.

Catalyst is an entertaining continuation of the Breakthrough series and is well worth the read for anyone who loves action adventure. 5-Stars. Clabe Polk ( )

As exciting as the previous book in the series. It began as a predictable sequel but then took off like a rocket! Each major character went in a different direction as the plot(s) developed and then came together in a surprising way at the end. No spoiler by reading this, but I thought it came together very well at the end, considering... (I appreciated the absence of vulgar profanity; not every soldier has to f-bomb every other word.) ( )
