"Once upon a time there was a ship that sailed beside the sun with very important people on board. The spirit of reinvention -- and the importance we place on things -- is beautifully expressed in José Sanabria's visually evocative story. A steamship makes a journey across time from luxury and exclusivity, industry and abandonment, to stewardship and inclusion as we see the evolving functions of the ship and the changing faces of the people who cherish it most of all."--… (meer)

Once again, not the most memorable, but still a nice, simple story. I liked the adventure part. I wonder if students might be able to write a story from a lesson based around this one, ( )

Think back to when you were a kid, did you realize what it took for the guardians in your life to keep up with the financials of life? Well, this children's book does a great job of that. As Time Went By is a great example of trying to keep up with the moving economy. I rate this 5 stars because it could really help students understand the realization it is to make money and keep up. I could give the students a set budget and have them plan their life based on the budget; to throw them off, I could add in obstacles that cost money, and have the students try and adjust and create a new life. The first thing I found interesting when reading this story was the careful use of text or phrases such as the phrase as time went by this I feel implies inevitability but in this story however it allows change as well. Second thing I found interesting is that from the cover page I was able to figure out that the main character was depicted as a boy and that his toy ship was the ship on the cover page. Overall the stories use of key phrases, and being able to depict characters particularly the main one will engross people in the story, and in turn will get the audience to read more of the authors work.
