Change events on the same date, 15 March, in six different years. The Time Patrol must send an agent back to each day, with just 24 hours for each to defeat the Shadow's plan to disrupt our time-line, creating a time tsunami and wiping our present out. 44 BC. I was interested enough in this title to request it in the LibraryThing Early Reviewers program and was happy when I won it. I love time travel books and this looked like a mystery/thriller that might be fun. Unfortunately, like some of the other reviewers here, the fact that it was in the midst of the series made it very difficult to follow. The characters were interesting and the writing was good, but I could not relate to the backstories, which I think is crucial here.

The entire portfolio of Bob Mayer’s work is quite confusing to navigate, in my opinion. I would begin at the start of the Time Patrol series, which, I believe, is The Nightstalkers Book 4 in the Area 51 series... See what I mean? ( )

I love books about time travel, especially when they relate to real history and real time frames. I enjoyed the book, but was in quite a dither with the repetitiveness and the reference to events I should have known about. Had I started with book 1, I probably would have enjoyed the book more and would also have been in a better position to write a more favorable review. I did find the repeat confusing, but I think I will go back and start at the beginning. I don't think my opinion at present can go much higher than two stars, but I will come back to this when I have caught up with the series. Hopefully by then I will find this book in a better light. My suggestion as I always try to do is get this book and read it but only in its proper order. ( )

When I won Ides of March (Time Patrol) (Volume 1), I assumed as the title suggests, that I was getting the first book in a series. Turns out it is actually book 3 of the Time Patrol series, which is also book 6 of the Nightstalkers series, and it is also book 15 of the Area 51 series. All that being said, it holds its own as a stand alone novel, but does refer back to previous books, so I think having read them first would be helpful in understanding some of the back story. ( )

I am hooked! The book opens with compelling action from six different time periods, all on the same day (Ides of March). Time Patrol's mission is to preserve the timeline and history. It draws you in to see how each scenario may or may not connect with the others. Mayer successfully interweaves science fiction, history, and mythology giving the story some intrigue. The book does end with a set up for the next installment, but not disappointingly so.

There are several typos throughout the book that can be distracting; a better job of editing would have been appreciated. However, they didn't detract from the story nor my interest in the series as a whole.

I do recommend this light, entertaining read - a fun ride. ( )

I was asked to review this by Librarything.com.

This was intriguing and from the blurb thought this was an unusual read but one worth reading.

This is a story about an Atlantean civilization who have devised machines that make time travel possible. this is used by the Time Patrol and their enemy The Shadow. The Shadow's aim basically is to change history in a specific way, and if successful to target certain historical events on the same day in six different years. A Time Tsunami is evolved that destroys the current timeline (though other timelines continue to exist in parallel) . The Time Patrol are enabled to go back for approximately 24 hours at a time to work to prevent The Shadow from changing history. Sounds complicated but if the reader takes their time it is such an interesting and thought provoking read. You keep asking yourself - could this happen?

In this book, six members of the Time Patrol are sent back to March 15th ( hence the title the Ides of March) in 6 different years. Their stories are told in parallel.

i stuck with it - the historical events were interesting but did not learn anything new ( but was not expecting to)

An interesting read, interesting author recommended. ( )
