Note: I received a digital review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. The Liszts by Kyo Maclear, illustrated by Júlia Sardà, and published by Tundra Books is an off beat story about a family of list makers. When I first picked up this one I thought it was kind of odd but I was fascinated. The illustrations are very Addams Family-esque. Everyone in the family Liszt makes lists, very obscure lists and lists most regular. One day an unexpected visitor turns up who is not on the list. Is there room for a little unexpectedness in the Liszts world? When I first read through this book, I found it to be really unusual but upon subsequent readings it grew on me. It's a quirky little story about being spontaneous, and spontaneity is something that can be lacking for a lot of us in our over scheduled lives. I truly believe that the story/illustrator combo suits this story to a tea as I don't think the story would be quite as impactful without Júlia Sardà's whimsical and quirky illustrations. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
"The Liszts make lists. They make lists most usual and lists most unusual. They make lists in winter, spring, summer and fall. They make lists every day except Sundays, which are listless. Mama Liszt, Papa Liszt, Winifred, Edward, Frederick and Grandpa make lists all day long. So does their cat. Then one day a visitor arrives. He's not on anyone's list. Will the Liszts be able to make room on their lists for this new visitor? How will they handle something unexpected arising?"--Provided by publisher. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
